Introduction
In 2012, the Philippine government enacted the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (DPA) into law to protect personal and sensitive information used in communication systems in public and private sectors in the country.
The SAINT JUDE CATHOLIC SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION INC. (SJCSAAI), is committed to protect the personal privacy of its members. It is the policy of the SJCSAAI that information collected from its members be stored, maintained, and used by the SJCSAAI only for appropriate, necessary, and clearly defined purposes, and that such information be controlled and safeguarded in order to ensure the protection of personal privacy to the extent permitted by law.
To be consistent with data protection laws, we ask you to take a moment to review the key points in this privacy policy. By availing of the SJCSAAI’s services, you consent to use of your data under this privacy policy.
We collect relevant personal information online through the ONE SJ website (OSJ).
We collect information about your personal information, past and present employment and other information which may allow us to process your application.
Why we process your data
We use your personal data, together with your past and present employment, to connect you with fellow alumni who may be interested in availing of your services.
How we use your data
We may use your personal information to contact you on matters pertaining to your connection with us as an alumnus/alumna of the SJCS.
As an alumni association, we retain alumni information in perpetuity, in order to allow us to update existing members’ data.
The SJCSAAI’s partner merchants has access to your personal information as it directly monitors your membership status with the permission of the SJCSAAI’s Data Protection Officer (DPO), subject to compliance with research ethics and data privacy. You may opt not to grant these merchants with access to your personal information by informing the SJCSAAI of your decision to cancel your subscription to the alumni ID.
Upon your request, we shall immediately process the cancellation of your alumni ID membership which effectively denies the SJCSAAI’s and its partner merchant’s access to your personal information.
We may need to share your data when we believe it is required by law or to protect your and our rights and security.
Your choices and obligations
You have the option not to grant use of your personal information by informing the SJCSAAI of your decision to cancel your subscription to the alumni ID.
You have the obligation to ensure the completeness and accuracy of all information provided to the SJCSAAI. Provision of fraudulent information, if proven to be deliberate, may prevent you from availing of the perks and privileges of being an SJCSAAI ID holder.
We implement security safeguards designed to protect your data. We regularly monitor our systems for possible vulnerabilities and attacks.
